Literacy Centers & Little Free Libraries

Prairie River Library District is committed to enriching lives and strengthening services through universal access to information and services. In addition to our branches, we are thrilled to partner with local community organizations to provide offsite literacy centers and little free libraries.

Lapwai - Little Free Library

The Pi-Nee-Waus Book Exchange Little Free Library was gifted to the Lapwai community through the Impact Library Program. It is intended to foster reading among the local children and build literacy. The Nez Perce Tribe enthusiastically endorsed the project and agreed to house the library on the Pi-Nee-Waus Community Center grounds. This central location is in the heart of Lapwai and is next to the Valley Boys and Girls Club and within 2 blocks of both public schools.

Who We Are

The Prairie River Library District has eight branches in communities along the Clearwater River and Camas Prairie, with the district headquarters located at the Lapwai branch.  PRLD is a member of Valnet, a consortium of over 40 public and school libraries in north-central Idaho and southeast Washington.

Mission: To enrich lives and strengthen communities through universal access to information and services.
